Setting myself in motion

Today I am laying the groundwork for new possibilities.

We need to make new possibilities by working on new things today

Some days we are able to make progress on particular projects, but today I am building the foundation that will support my blogging, helping and communicating.

I like working on websites, though I end up rediscovering techniques and using time learning to use the tools.  I have a two hour rule for tool learning – if I can’t figure something out in two hours I look more diligently for information I am missing, often by searching the web, asking someone, or checking the documentation: reading the fine manual can be helpful!

Today’s rediscovery is how to manage the widget area in WordPress. I use the Mandigo theme, and discovered that its Sidebar replaces the usual WordPress widget area. No extra plugin is needed, and Mandigo provides a powerful Text facility for customizing the Widget area.

The results of today’s work is that I have created the main entry points for my Photographer and StageDesigner pages, so that I can start showing my photos and stage designs. These are both very creative and satisfying areas of my efforts, and I am looking forward to adding content.

I also plan on providing tips, techniques and hands-on information. I know that I really appreciate when things are explained clearly and a process is well-documented. It helps me, and others, get that job done!

Today I have set myself in motion – I am changing what I can do tomorrow by making more of today !
